Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks

Hey all!

Yet another blog from me! I’m on fire, huh? =P This time I have two movies to talk about. I went out earlier today and saw both Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks. Both I thought were really great movies. If you think about it, I guess it’s in some ways preparing me for when I am in Orlando for my Disney Internship. =P

First movie up is Saving Mr. Banks, the untold story of how the movie Mary Poppins came to be. It features fantastic performances particularly that of Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks, who play P. L. Travers and Walt Disney respectively. The movie goes back and forth between the 1960s and P. L. Travers’ childhood which helps us understand what her childhood meant to her and why she is very protective on her Mary Poppins character. It’s also one of those movies that hits right at home in regards to the relationship between her and her father growing up. Towards the end, I did shed a couple of tears but with good reason.

Overall, I was very impressed with how well-made the movie was as I had been looking forward to seeing the first time I saw the trailer to it earlier this year. So the movie earns a 4 out of 4 stars rating in my book.

Up next is Frozen, Disney’s non-Pixar animated film. As a guy, it may seem odd to be watching a princess movie, and I wasn’t that impressed with the teaser of it. After hearing how good it was, I was rather curious to check it out, but what really prompted me to see it was how dark of a tone it had in certain parts. After seeing it, I can see why they would say that. It brings back that foreboding feel from earlier Disney movies like Snow White and Pinocchio. Sure the movie had one song too many, and yes, it was a Disney princess movie. However, it had enough to keep me entertained, and I really enjoyed it way more than Tangled. πŸ™‚ With strong chemistry between the characters and a witty script, it’s great to see Disney animated films getting back on track! And that is a lot to say considering how the more recent Pixar movies have been.

Yet again, this movie earns a 4 out of 4 stars rating. πŸ™‚

When I think about it, I’m all for more mature Disney movies! It’s very refreshing to see a Disney movie that isn’t so bogged down by one cliche after another, and that can drive a person up the wall as far as predictability goes. I mean it’s okay if they can be silly sometimes, but I would be all for something as witty as Frozen. Shoot, even the comic relief in Frozen was worth watching, and I find most Disney comic reliefs to be very obnoxious beyond belief!

Speaking of mature movies from Disney, I don’t know why, but I’ve always thought it would be cool if they did a Gargoyles movie. This idea occurred when The Dark Knight came out. Even though I’ve only seen a few episodes of the show (I seriously should watch that and all other cartoons I’ve missed out on), I still think it would be cool if it happened. πŸ™‚ But hey, one can dream, right?

With that, I think this is a good stopping point for this blog. πŸ™‚ Thanks for reading! And have a Happy New Year!

Even though Christmas came late for me, I’m going to be in the spirit of it until New Year’s. I know it may seem a bit odd, but it does help to boost my spirits. πŸ™‚

Any holiday song favorites you have you’d like to share? ^^

Once again, you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! =D

A Merry Christmas To You All!

Well folks! It’s that time of year again! I hope you guys have been extra good this year. =P

As always, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update. I’m becoming pretty bad at these things. lol But hey, an update’s an update. Well, things have been quite a roller coaster ride for me with stress coming from school and work. I’m just glad that school is out of the way. I managed to get Bs in my Java and Adobe Flash classes and an A in my Game Development Today class. So now it’s just counting down the days until I start my internship with the Disney World Resort in February. I’m super stoked for it since I’m at the point where my current job is just aggravating. Having hours is good and all, but facing so many people between Thanksgiving and now in Sears wears you out. I know I’ll be facing lots while at the parks, but I can use a change of scenery about now. lol

Anyway, not much has happened since the last time I’ve posted. As always of course. lol I mean there has been a personal matter or two, but that is about it. I hope to draw more when I have more time between now and before I head to Orlando. I need to get a Christmas pic posted before Christmas Day is over. lol Other than that, I have managed to complete a PS2 game called The Mark of Kri. I plan to have a written mini-review of it sometime soon. So be on the lookout for it. πŸ™‚

Speaking of games, I’ve recently picked up a component cable for my HDTV, and my PS2 games look sharper and brighter than using the AV cables. I played some of Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast to test the cables out, and I was impressed with what they were capable of doing. πŸ™‚ Other than that, I opened up one of my Christmas gifts, and it happened to be Far Cry 3. It’s been a fun FPS so far! For those that enjoyed Red Dead Redemption, this game would be up your alley, and I would recommend it from the seven hours I’ve played so far. It’s becoming to be a much better gaming experience than Killzone HD via the Killzone Trilogy.

And that is another thing now that I think about Killzone HD. Although it’s a port of the PS2 original, I am just not that impressed with it now that I’m in the middle of the game’s third chapter. Β Bland visuals, overpowering enemies, unbalanced weapons, uninspired level designs, and a lack of direction in navigating through the levels. Despite these gripes, I’m going to try to trudge through it and see if it gets any better. I’m around the part where you are introduced to the other characters in the game. However, I doubt I will get attached to any of them. We shall see how I fair with the game though.

Let’s see… I think that is pretty much all I have to say at this time other than I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas. πŸ™‚ With things that go on in everyone’s lives, I pray all goes well for you guys, and that you all cherish the moment you have with family and friends. πŸ™‚ I leave you all with this song, and it resonates well with me with what has been going on lately.

I plan to upload a video of what I got for Christmas and what I have prepared myself for the occasion. It’s going to be interesting to be spending this Christmas alone. ^^; Oh well. I’ll be all right.

You all take care and have a Merry Christmas!

God bless everyone. (And no, I am not being preachy about it.)
